New movies coming in February 2025 – Deseret News

As January comes to a close, there isn’t yet much to look forward to for those who long to be outside in the sunshine, since the weather isn’t heating up and school is still in session.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom. There are some great entertainment options coming next month.

Movies such as “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Paddington in Peru” will come to theaters in February.

Here are 11 new movies that will be released in theaters or on streaming services soon.

‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: Feb. 5

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a rockstar? Hear it from someone who knows.

“Becoming Led Zeppelin” is a documentary that features never-before-seen footage of the band members from Led Zeppelin. The take viewers backstage to see what it took to become a musical sensation.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: Feb. 14

There are no aliens, multi-universe journeys or magical stones in this upcoming Marvel movie. The creators are taking it back to “old-school Marvel,” according to Anthony Mackie.

Taking up the mantle that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) left for him, Sam Wilson (Mackie) must do all he can to stop a a hot-headed president (Harrison Ford).

‘Paddington in Peru’

Rating: PG

Release Date: Feb. 14

Everyone’s favorite bear is returning to the big screen in “Paddington in Peru.”

Paddington (Ben Whishaw) and the Brown family are off on a new adventure when he learns that his dear aunt has gone missing from her residence at the Home of Retired Bears in Peru. The movie follows Paddington’s efforts to help her.

‘The Unbreakable Boy’

Rating: PG

Release Date: Feb. 21

Based on the book “The Unbreakable Boy,” this movie follows Austin (Jacob Laval), who has a rare brittle-bone disease and autism.

His diagnoses cause challenges for him and his family, but he also brings everyone around him a lot of joy.

‘The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie’

Rating: PG

Release Date: Feb. 28

Porky Pig (Eric Bauza) and Daffy Duck (also Bauza) have made their way to the big screen and, in true Looney Tunes fashion, it’s looking to be one wild ride.

In this new film, Porky and Daffy become unlikely heroes as they band together to save Earth from evil aliens. They might succeed if they can keep from driving each other crazy.

‘The Legend of Ochi’

Rating: PG

Release Date: Feb. 28

Take a trip to an island in the black sea, they said. It will be fun, they said. Well, did they tell you about the ochi?

Staring Helena Zengel, Willem Dafoe and Finn Wolfhard, “The Legend of Ochi” follows Yuri (Zengel) and her mission to help a young ochi find a way back to its family.

‘Last Breath’

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: Feb. 28

You might want to hold your breath.

In this film, which is based on a true story, Woody Harrelson, Simu Lui and Finn Cole portray deep-sea divers who must do all they can to rescue a crew mate that is stranded hundreds of feet beneath the ocean’s surface.

'The Sweet Villa'

Release Date: Feb. 13

Having a daydreamer for a daughter isn’t always easy for this businessman.

Eric (Scott Foley) is off to Italy to convince his daughter, Olivia (Maia Reficco), not to spend everything she has on a rundown old villa. But the trip “turns out to be a sort of second chance at happiness for Eric, in so many ways,” Foley told Tumdu.

‘The Gorge’

Rating: PG-13

Streaming: Apple TV+

Release Date: Feb. 14

Playing two highly-trained operatives, Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy are stationed on opposite sides of a gorge and are charged to not let anything come out of its depths.

After realizing what the gorge holds, they work together to keep humanity safe.

‘Coach’s Kid’

Rating: PG-13

Streaming: Disney+

Release Date: Feb. 19

In “Coach’s Kid,” 12-year-old Laurie (Rosie Foss) is not the best player on her softball team, but all she wants is to make her dad, aka Coach (Will Forte), proud.

But in order to do so she must first overcome insecurities that become a creature that she can only see, called Sweaty (Jo Firestone).

‘Blue’

Rating: PG-13

Streaming: Disney+

Release Date: Feb. 19

Frank (Josh Thomson) is a middle-school teacher and softball umpire. While he has no trouble calling things as they are on the field, he tends to keep his protective gear on in social situations.

However, after trying a dating app, he finds it easier to leave the helmet and pads behind.
